The Master of Science in Environmental Health at Mississippi Valley State University takes a slightly different approach to the improvement of public health. The environment is a huge factor in determining how safe people are from dangerous illness, disease, or even injuries. This degree program focuses on the different hazards that are present within the natural living environment, work and school environments, the public domain, and even in remote locations. Our program will prepare professionals for careers such as Health and Safety Engineer, Food Safety Inspector, Environmental Health Specialist, Corporate Health and Safety Director, and more.
Requirements:
Applicants interested in pursuing the Master of Science in Environmental Health must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. The applicant should submit to the Admissions Office:
- The Graduate Application for Admission,
- Official transcripts from all accredited colleges/universities attended
Other requirements to be included with the Application include:
- Three (3) letters of recommendation.
- Special application forms and materials required by departments.
- Acceptable GRE or IELTS test scores 60
- The prospective student must have completed a minimum of 16 semester hours in science, two general biology courses, two general chemistry courses
- Statement of interest
- Submit TOFEL scores, if an international student
- Student must have a 3.0 undergraduate GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Regular Status
Students who have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) at the undergraduate level are awarded regular status.
Special Admission
Students who are admitted on special admission must maintain a 3.0 overall GPA during the first nine semester hours of graduate coursework. Failure to do so will result in notification of dismissal. However, the special status may be removed if the student maintains a GPA of 3.0 or better.
